In 2021, around 69.78 thousand live births resulting from assisted reproductive technology (ART) were recorded in Japan, of which around 64.68 thousand were from frozen embryo transfer (FET). In the FET procedure, embryos that were created in a previous in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle are used usually.
